Ron's background and experience in architecture and interior design help him see the components and details of the structures that he works with. By understanding these elements, Ron is better able to interpret the needs and desires of his clients and others on the design team. ExperienceRon has over 23 years of experience as a design professional. He has designed lighting systems for a diverse collection of environments including: luxury residences, restaurants, hotels, corporate centers, museums, theaters, art galleries, healthcare facilities, sporting facilities, retail, schools, historic restoration, and public landscapes.Ron also has estimating and project management experience in commercial electrical contracting. Ron’s father, Tom Neal, founded Neal Electric, one of California’s largest, most successful electrical contracting companies. While working at Neal Electric, Ron was responsible for a wide range of large-scale projects. Ron prides himself on having a key understanding of the important relationship between design and construction. His ability to manage a project from its inception through the final punch list ensures the successful completion of even the most developed and technical lighting design concepts. Ron’s knowledge and experience with a wide range of architectural styles, lighting applications, and construction methods allows him to develop many different custom lighting details which can be integrated into the architecture while enhancing the illumination of the structure, space, objects or finishes.
Lighting Design AssociationsRon is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and Illuminating Engineers Society of North America (IESNA). He has served on the board of the San Diego chapter of the IESNA. Ron also provides lighting education services to the San Diego design community and has lectured at the San Diego campus of the New School of Architecture, and The Design Institute.
